Shakkei is a Japanese garden construction technique aimed at integrating the background scenery of the garden into its layout. Representative samples can be observed in Sugakuin Rikkyu - Imerial villa and the garden attached to Kinkaku-ji temple called golden pavilion, both are in Kyoto.
